Remembering September 11th 2001
This is why the thought of a mosque being built bordering ground zero makes so many Americans sick to their stomach and for good reason. A lot of talk and debate has been going on the over the last few days on the issue of Islam and America. Today, that talk is going to intensify. I'm now hearing that Pastor Jones isn't going to burn a pile of Korans after all. After watching the video of the WTC attack, part of me wishes that he went ahead with it after all. In retrospect, Americans have more of a right to protest over what Muslim Extremists did on 9-11-01 then they do in chanting death to America because a pastor planned to burn 150 Korans.
This was the reaction by Muslims in the Middle East once they got word of the 911 attacks. If Islam is the "Religion of Peace", why would Muslims be celebrating "Islamic acts of violence"?

I find the Ground Zero Mosque to not only be insulting but a sign of appeasement to the same people who want to destroy us. They can build their mosque somewhere else.
I remember hearing about this event when I was going to college on the radio. Yes I was attending College at the time of that attack.
I get the feeling that the Left wants to bury this event and building the Mosque just their way of trying to white wash history something I do not approve of.
Much like how they tried to change the ethnicities of the men who were waving the American Flag on that day.
Apathy and Political Correctness will be the death of us all.
I too was in college during the attack and was in a weight training class when ESPN broke the news when the 2nd plane hit. I got to the student center and witnessed the collapse of both towers with other students, professors and the college president. It still is so unreal to me that it has been 9 years. I can only imagine how fresh the pain still is to many victims' families.
What America is not hearing are the voices of many Muslim Americans who agree that the park 51 project is completely insensitive and against Islamic teachings. What America is hearing is basically threats from those behind the proposed Mosque who say if they do not get their way America will be susceptible to more attacks; a point which tells me this Islamic center is more of a victory landmark than a bridge to peace and healing. Yet somehow the main stream media defends this man rather than condemning his insensitive statements. President Obama was correct in stating this morning that we as a nation are not at war with Islam but with those who distort the religion to cause terror and fear. However, our own state department is funding devisive voices like the ground zero Imam rather than promoting truly peace-seeking Imams who are not afraid to condemn terrorism. Shameful!
I spent the better part of the morning watching the rebroadcast of the events of 9-11 on MSNBC. My boys were 2 and 3 at the time and did not remember much of it. I explained about how life actually shut down for the rest of the week and about little things like how the military base on which I work was an open post and never had guards until the morning of the attacks. Unfortunately after the broadcast MSNBC did a diservice to the 9/11 families by talking to one of the relatives about issues completely unrelated to the mosque yet under their pictures listing captions like "New York Mosque opposition".True journalism is a lost art anymore.
The day when an American can be photographed deliberately burning a Koran and this image does NOT incite the Moslem world to riot and retributive acts of violence will be the day when Islam's advocates can honestly claim that theirs is a religion of peace.
Until that day, I think I'm justified in responding to those that claim Islam is a "moderate" religion, I.C.B.S.!

I was coming home from the mall on Sept 11th. I just happened to turn on the radio, and it was on. I saw police cars on the higway, and I didn't know what was going on. When I got home, I turned on the television, tower two was already struck. I knew then this was no accident.
Our government has become a bunch of appeasing cowards Sojournerlove. Nine years later, ground zero should not still be there. Two new world trade center towers should have been completed or very well near completion. The politically correct crowd are afraid to build anything on site, because they don't know who they might "offend". If a Mosque on the edge of Ground Zero is built before anything on Ground Zero itself is built, what message does that send? I don't think it sends a good one at all.

It's just the "religion of peace" living up to the title Joe. I read the story about the Indonesian Christians. It makes me angry that they suffer having to be called infidels and told to go home. Islam is not a tolerant religion by the further est stretch of the imagination.
