Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon found guilty.

You all might want to archive what I'm about to say. I'm not wrong often. Common sense thinking has no flaws. I was proven wrong today though by the citizens that served on the jury of Mayor Sheila Dixon's theft trial. Our mayor was on trial for personally using gift cards that were meant to be given to needy families. Before this case went to trial, I thought for sure that Dixon was going to be found innocent. I came to the conclusion early on that she was going to have the equivalent of what is known as an "O.J" jury. An "OJ" jury is basically a jury made up of mostly one race with a unified agenda to find the defendant innocent regardless of the facts. I'm surprised that Dixon's supporters didn't try to play the race card as much against the State Prosecutor who is white and is a Republican.

Baltimore Sun "it was a conversation had throughout corners of the market and pockets of the city from residents captivated by the more than two-week trial, with some declaring that the mayor has embarrassed Baltimore and should immediately resign from office and others saying Dixon was targeted because of her race and gender. Dixon is Baltimore's first black female mayor".

This is what Melvin Burgess who is a black Dixon supporter had to say about Dixon's conviction "You've got people in office doing worse than that," said Burgess, a 54-year-old Baltimore native. "She was targeted. They think we've got too many blacks in City Hall."

Mr. Burgess like many who think like him is a race blinded fool. If Sheila Dixon is removed from office because of her conviction, the City Council President Stephanie Rawlings Blake will become the new mayor. Stephane Rawlings is also a black female.

Baltimore has a sixty five percent black population, and surprisingly most of them believe that Dixon committed the crime and should be removed from office. I remember when Washington D.C mayor Marion Barry was caught on tape in a hotel room smoking crack. Even with the evidence as clear as day showing his guilt, the black majority of D.C rallied around Barry and claimed that he was "framed". Sheila is the first black female to be elected mayor of Baltimore as I said. Now she is the first mayor ever in Baltimore history to be convicted of a crime, talk about historic. The jury convicted her on one count of fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary and acquitted her on two counts of felony theft and one count of misconduct in office. The jury deliberated for six days before finally coming to a verdict today. That tells me that the jurors really took their job seriously. Life is full of surprises. When Obama came to Baltimore earlier in January, he made sure to avoid Sheila like the plague. Even though Sheila is a major supporter of Obama, Obama wasn't one of hers apparently. I'm fascinated by the reaction of the local media over Sheila's conviction. They all are asking "what does this mean for the future of Baltimore". I wish they could have interviewed me, I could have told them easily in sixty seconds what this mean for Baltimore. Another liberal Democrat will become mayor, and it will be business as usual of the city of Baltimore continuing it's decay like most of the other liberal run cities in America. Note to Dixon supporters, it might not be a good idea to give any type of gift card to Dixon as a Christmas present.

I'm really puzzled as to why a group of supporters and constituents were to come around and show support for Sheila Dixon. I would be outrage.
I guess I could say is this: people who supports a corrupt politician, like Marion Berry, if you pardon the pun, must be on crack.

Every crook politician has he or her supporters right to the bitter end. Sheila did give some gift cards to her closet friends and staff. They still support her, because she "took care of them". Well their gravy train has just run out of steam.

CB;"I'm not wrong often".

Hardly.... You're wrong in using just that statement!

CB;"Before this case went to trial, I thought for sure that Dixon was going to be found innocent".

And why would you think that?

OOOhhhh... because you; "came to the conclusion early on that she was going to have the equivalent of what is known as an "O.J" jury".

Blacks juries convict other Blacks all the time. You've taken two high profile cases (Marion Barry and O.J.) and broad brushed, and stereotyped an entire race as being "disfuctional" jurors.

However, there is "clear and present" irony in your written essay. First, you are a resident of the City of Baltimore. Second, you are "BLACK." Those two facts alone made it possible for you to have served on that same jury.

So, if you sat on the jury, other Blacks who think like you, would have to view you as a Black juror with "an agenda to find the defendant innocent regardless of the facts."

It's also clear that had you sat on the jury, you would have taken those same "thoughts" with you into the courtroom and the jury's deliberations.

In essence, for you to have served on the jury your verdict of "guilty" would had to have been "self-deprecating." That is to say, you would have had to convict the Black person because you can't trust yourself, because you're Black!!

Gift cards worth some few hundred dollars, over a political career??!! Unbelievable!

Mayor Dixon's political enemies have been after her for millions of $$ for years, all to be laughed out of court. Now they got her for a mere $1,500 given to her by her boyfriend in an unmarked enveloped.

She's done more for both the poor and middle class, she's reduced violence better than any previous mayor. The NYTimes had a very balanced report on the conviction that i've heard no where in Baltimore.

The party of "no" puts all their energy into bringing down others instead of bringing anyone up. I'm deeply disappointed that our justice system is as flawed as politics as usual. Just like Lewinsky, the republicans have won on their dirty tricks.

I do think Ms. Dixon is guilty of not doing a good enough job of separating her personal life with her political life. She's just so involved with helping Baltimore she lost her objectivity.

I don't buy that argument for one second. Every politician has political enemies to one degree or another. She was the one who gave them ammo due to her actions. The buck stops with Dixon.

anon "She's done more for both the poor and middle class, she's reduced violence better than any previous mayor. "

As much as I can't stand the gutts of Martin O'Malley, violent crime and especially the murder rate leveled off under him. Dixon merely continued it when she became mayor. Also how in the world did she help the middle class and the poor. The middle class in Baltimore are still getting screwed by being the most taxed jurisdiction in the entire state of Maryland. If she was doing such a great job for the middle class and the poor, most of Batlimorians wouldn't be calling for her to step down as mayor as they are doing now.

anon "The NYTimes had a very balanced report on the conviction that i've heard no where in Baltimore."

I know two reasons that should be self explanatory to why the NY Times would write a "balanced" story on Dixon.

anon "The party of "no" puts all their energy into bringing down others instead of bringing anyone up. I'm deeply disappointed that our justice system is as flawed as politics as usual. Just like Lewinsky, the republicans have won on their dirty tricks."

Dixion brought herself down. Nobody told her to spend those gift cards. She did it all by herself. Most the residents in Baltimore are registered Democrats and they want her kicked out. So the party of not and bringing people down approach isn't going to work. I'm sure you've seen the interviews by the media of citizens. The grand conspiracy just isn't going to wash with this.

anon "I do think Ms. Dixon is guilty of not doing a good enough job of separating her personal life with her political life. She's just so involved with helping Baltimore she lost her objectivity."

Yeah, and I'm sure Kenneth Lay really wasn't using trick math to hide the loses of Enron so he could pump the stock and cash out, he just accidentally placed a few decimal points in the wrong areas, it could happen to anyone.

p allen quoting me "CB;"I'm not wrong often".
Hardly.... You're wrong in using just that statement!

Actually, I'm not wrong allen. As I said before, common sense thinking is never wrong.

p allen quorting me CB;"Before this case went to trial, I thought for sure that Dixon was going to be found innocent".

p allen "And why would you think that?"

It should be obvious allen. I know how liberals think. I remember reading about the black jurist in the first O.J Simpson trail giving a black power salute to OJ after the trial. You should know by now allen that I don't just say things just for the hell of it.

P Alle "OOOhhhh... because you; "came to the conclusion early on that she was going to have the equivalent of what is known as an "O.J" jury"."

You got it. It took a while to seat a jury in this case, that was a good thing. I'm sure different aspects of jurors were taken into consideration like political and racial views, education level etc.

p allen "Blacks juries convict other Blacks all the time. You've taken two high profile cases (Marion Barry and O.J.) and broad brushed, and stereotyped an entire race as being "disfuctional" jurors."

Wrong allen, I used the supporters of Marion Barry and O.J as merely illustrations to describe the mind of jurist that would make up a O.J style jury. The reason I said that the jury would be an O.J jury is base on the mindset of most Baltimore residents who are black and liberal. The truth is what it is.

p allen However, there is "clear and present" irony in your written essay. First, you are a resident of the City of Baltimore. Second, you are "BLACK." Those two facts alone made it possible for you to have served on that same jury."

I wish I could have served on that jury allen. I would have tried her soley on the facts presented. Race wouldn't have played a factor in the least in my analysis of the facts. That is how jurors are suppose to be alen. You agree?

p allen "So, if you sat on the jury, other Blacks who think like you, would have to view you as a Black juror with "an agenda to find the defendant innocent regardless of the facts.""

If other black jurors thought like me, we would try her on the facts presented. Just like in dragnet, just the facts. If the facts showed that she was innocent that would have been our verdict. If the facts showed she was quality, then she would have been found guilty.

p allen "It's also clear that had you sat on the jury, you would have taken those same "thoughts" with you into the courtroom and the jury's deliberations."

Just the facts allen, nothing more and nothing less. I'm not a vendictive liberal. I wouldn't ruin a person's life just because he or she isn't a conservative. It's you liberals that try to destroy people who don't support your way of thinking allen. Case in point, how many of of those 17 ethic violations filed against Sarah Palin were legit allen?

p allen "In essence, for you to have served on the jury your verdict of "guilty" would had to have been "self-deprecating." That is to say, you would have had to convict the Black person because you can't trust yourself, because you're Black!!"

Because I am a black man that doesn't see everything through the prism of race is the main reason I know I could trust myself as a juror allen. Once again you failed to see the obvious. lol
