New York Elementary School renamed after Barack Obama.
The dumb dumb disease of Barack Obama insanity shows now signs of remission. Thank goodness I have a strong immune system. Since Obama won the Presidential Election, there is a movement to rename everything in sight after Barack Obama. The guy hasn't even been sworn in yet. I've always thought that people have buildings, roads etc named after other people of importance based on their deeds. Barack Obama was elected which is true, but he hasn't done anything yet to warrant schools or anything else to be named after him. Think of it like this. Imagine a child getting a trophy for just showing up for a little league baseball game. This his how people are acting towards Obama.There is a school new New York city that was named Ludlum Elementary School, but as of Thursday thanks to the Hempstead Union Free School District board it is now called "Barack Obama" Elementary School. Here's a little info about the person the school was "formerly" named after. Mr. Charles Ludlum was a local physician that served on the school board for 40 years. Think about that for a moment. What was Mr. Ludlum's service to the Hempstead Union Free Board worth? He was a community doctor and gave 40 years of his life serving on the school board. Did his accomplishments mean nothing just because a man won an election?! Is there a "disconnect" here? If John McCain would have won the election, would the school board renamed the school the "John McCain elementary school"? I know they wouldn't. The whole issue of race have completely frazzled people's sense of sanity and rationality. I wonder will there be a rest stop named after Barack Obama next? How does the "Barack Obama urinal" sound? Just remember that all of the attention and insane admiration that is being given to Obama is "based on him being elected based on his race and not him as a person". Should people refer to Obama as "the black president or just the president"? When does Barack Obama get treated like a human being instead of glorified racial fade or idol? I can't remember the name of a movie I saw awhile back. A guy was starring at a woman's cleavage, and the woman said "you know I have a face too". He was so mesmerized by her breasts, he forgot that she was more then just cleavage. This also goes for Obama. I'm not a fan of him as everybody knows, but I think it's about time people need to regain some sense of sanity and treat this man as a man not a racial play thing.

To change the names of buildings and bridges just because a non white person won the Presidental election goes beyond stupidity by ten times. Renaming buildings and stuff based on a person's life achievements is one thing, but this is just plan dumb. If Obama defied logic and actually becomes a good president, then it would be warranted for schools and such to bear his name. Right now Obama reminds me of a movie trailer. You know when you see a trialer in the theater, it looks so cool and exciting, but when you go to see the actual movie it sucks! That's how I feel too chilerkle". They're is a stark difference between electing an unqualified person with a dangerous ideology to the white house just because he's black then electing a qualified and morally grounded invidual to the white house that happens to be black. They're are plenty of people that happen to be black that I feel would make great choices as President much much more so then Obama. Was the lake that is named after Huckabee named after him when he was first elected Governor of Arkansas or after he left office allen? As for Byrd, be brings home "the pork", and for that everything in West Virginia is named after him. Once again it was Byrd has done for West Virginia that warranted so many buildings, roads, and klan hats being named after him. You say it isn't a big deal. Exactly who are the people that run the school systems allen, the kids or the adults? The students don't have any power in deciding whether a school name is changed. I do shame the school board though. The person that the school was formerly named did actually contributed hard work and dedication to that school system to warrant his name being on their. Allen, I don't have a problem with a school name being change. I just want to know what did Obama do to warrant it, There are many schools named after Presidents, but they weren't name after presidents just because the candidate won the Presidential Election. You can't address that. Even if McCain would have won and they did the same thing for him, I wouild still be presenting the same arguement against it for him. This problem requires a free market solution. I know exactly what needs to be done to fix this problem. I'm a free market capitalist. Obama can't fix this, he will only make matters worse. It's kind of a catch 22. Nothing will please me more then too see Obama fall flat on his face dealing with this, but on the other side people are going to be impacted due to him thinking government is the answer to fixing this. Bailouts don't work unless they address the root problem. Obama won't figure that out.

History is made everyday. Most people that live in the United States don't have the foggiest concept of their country's history allen!!! They don't even know the inner workings of their own government!! I wanted to ask you the same question you asked Tyrone. Should 12 year olds be told not to admire the President (or President-elect) of the United States? Did you tell your students not to admire George W. Bush back at the end of 2000? Or did tell them not to because he wasn't your guy or that he "stole" the election? I know you have mentioned that you are an educator and the teacher's unions tend to be very liberal. My older brother has been an educator for over 30 years and he's at odds a lot of times because of his religious beliefs are not in line with the union's agenda. I'm not looking to pick a fight with you but I was wondering if you practice what you preach.
President-Elect Obama was not my choice but for the pure history I'm happy to see a Black man as Commander-in-Chief. But since I embraced conservatism about 4 years ago I would have preferred a conservative President (which George W. Bush is not). By the way, my two choices were bounced out early (Duncan Hunter and Mike Huckabee).

When they want sympathy they include a dark skinned black and holler "racism" when Islam is a religion. We are being enslaved by an irrational phlosophy of multiculturalism. We live in the American cultural, a Mosaic of Europe, Africa and Asia. American Indians are really from China. Tibetans and other Chinese look just like the Native Americans who crossed over the Baring Strait and migrated to South America. Their small statue is very evident in South America coming from a certain part of China. Red Indians still exist today. mostly in North Dakota, actually red. Blue blacks exist in Sudan, actually blue-black people, not dark brown, blue black. They are both beautiful, very beautiful.
Next, the Lies American Blacks have been told". We won't need politics if we are all dead!

No! Children at that age are still forming idea's about the world they live in. Most kids around that age see the president as "the smartest or the bravest person in the world."

No! I teach in Detroit at the high school level. I'll be totally honest here. In the "urban" high school (not to say that you can't find it in other school's) most of the kid's basically have little (if non) interest in politics's. As for those who do, my discussion is limited to what a student might ask concerning a candidate, politician or policy. But no, I would never tell a student not to admire the POTUS. Given time and by gathering information on their our (as you and I have done), they can form their own opinions.

I would tell anyone who asked, that yes, the 2000 election was stolen! But that's just my opinion.
There were some students who expressed the idea. Yet, I can assure you that the students that felt, or expressed an idea that it was stolen, did not form the idea from anything I taught them. High school student do have their parents, their friends, siblings or their preachers. Or, they could have followed the election, watched the outcome and came to the conclusion on their own...

Leaving them in tears over their admiration of the President Of The United States....well into adulthood? You would actually strip the inspiration of a 12 year old to satisfy your own political ideology...an admiration inspired by the "President" no less....
I'm going to leave this alone now Tyrone. Yet, I truly hope it's just "sour grapes" on your part...
Hey CB, our local talk radio station this afternoon is going to interview someone related to the online literacy test. I found out about this on a local blog. I took that test last night and got 81.82% right. The ones I guessed were the ones I got wrong. One of them I should have known better on (who were the Puritans). LOL I thought way too long on that one. The average for all that took the test is under 50%. For educators it is not too much better.
There is a middle school which is being built at this moment in Tacoma, WA decided to name the school after Obama.
Usually schools aren't named after a president until they leave office, not before or during.
They never mentioned what the original name of the school was going to be.
