Dede Scozzafava showed the GOP that she's a liberal first and foremost.

I definitely need to start keeping track of how many times I get proven correct in a day. I heard the spew from Newt Gingrich and other Republicans that Dede Scozzafava was going to vote with House Minority Leader Boehner if she won. Boy does Newt and others have some serious egg on their faces right now. I know all about how moderate and liberal Republicans operate. At the end of the day, they are still moderates and liberals first. Dede Scozzafava is a hardcore liberal. That is her core. That wasn't going to magically change if she won Tuesday. So it didn't shock me and it shouldn't be a shock to conservatives and the GOP that Dede has now thrown her support behind Democrat Bill Owens. Some are now calling her a "turncoat". Actually, she's just now free to display who she was all along, not a "traitor" but a "liberal". Ms. Scoozzafava has more in common with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the liberal block of the Democrat Party then she did with the moderate to conservative rank and file in the Republican Party. At least now with Dede throwing her support behind Bill Owens, the battle lines should now be clear. If the National Republican Committee had any sense, they would now turn their target on Bill Owens in the remaining 48 hours leading up to the election. Dede Scozzafava taught the New York Republican Party and the National Republican Committee a very valuable lesson whether they chose to learn from it that is. If the Republican Party embraces candidates that are conservative in core values, they won't have to worry about those Republicans candidates turning on them. If they would have just backed Hoffman from the start, they wouldn't have to be dealing with the Scozzafava defection 48 hours before the polls open. This is why parents tell their children not to try and befriend stray dogs. You just never know how those dogs where raised.

It was Sarah Palin that injected the "conservative core values" edge to this particular race. New York's 23rd Congressional has been a Republican district for many years. Now it's up to the voters of the district as to how they want to be represented.

Personally, I know literally nothing about upstate N.Y. politics. So it's left up to the voters in NY-23rd for the rest of us to see if "core conservative values" (and Sarah Palin) are worth the salt...

Some day allen, I predict you'll acutally be right about something. Today isn't that day as usual. Hoffman was the one who ran, because he said the 23rd district didn't have a conservative representing them in the race. So the blame Palin express has just been derailed allen, try again.

Ty,

Are you really surprised that PAA and the rest of the left are so obsessed with Sarah Palin that they can't see the forest for the trees. Before one of them even attempts to form a denial, I point out that Tim Pawlenty and Rudy Giuliani are just a couple of others. Notice how their endorsement of Hoffman was left out. To be clear, PAA; Hoffman injected the "core conservatives values" into the race well before Sarah Palin and others endorsed him. Hoffman was running as a third party "Conservative". Just from the recent polling data, it looks like Hoffman is poised to pull of a big win.

Tyrone Allen should run for office in Detroit. He tries real hard, just leave the race hate out.

Tyrone would be a good mayor to start of Baltimore. Run as am Independent with not label, dem or Rep. Give the people hope again, not communism which has never worked.

Frank;"Are you really surprised that PAA and the rest of the left are so obsessed with Sarah Palin that they can't see the forest for the trees".

Perhaps I should have been more clear when stating the "injection" of conservative values...

What I've read about 59 year old Doug Hoffman, is that he is a businessman and not a career politician. I can't find where he's ever been elected to anything.

It's my understanding is that Hoffman and Scozzafava differed on two key "core conservative value" issues...Hoffman being anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage, where Scozzafava was not.

Thus, there is no doubt that if a political candidate wishes to obtain a "conservative EDGE" that candidate has to appease the anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage conservative right.

Being that Hoffman has never held a public office his, candidacy required an endorsement (or an "edge") from the conservative political establishment. Enter Sarah Palin.

I can't speak for any other so-called "left" political observers, yet for me there's hardly any obsession with Palin. The obsession is actually within the conservative party itself.

The fact is no one knows how a politician is going to govern before he or she is elected. No one knows if he or she will keep taxes low, increase jobs, improve services, improve education, decrease government spending, end wars or start wars.

Yet, in order to receive the votes or endorsement of the "conservative core values wing", all one must be is against abortion and against gay marriage.

Frankly I'd like to see or hear Hoffman debate the key issues facing his district. If those issues are abortion and gay marriage I think he'll win hands down.

Thats what Liberals Do! No shock here. Liberals will put all logic to the wayside, in order to stay ideologically perfect. It would not shock me the least, if this idiot got into the political landscape as a wolf in sheeps clothing on purpose.

True enough, but ironically enough, it was Dede Scozzafava who injected LIBERAL core values into this campaign - not only involving herself with the voter-fraud machine ACORN, but supporting Card Check (the eradication of the secret ballot in Union elections), the Democrats $1 TRILLION non-stimulating Stimulus Bill and claims to support Oba-(sorry)...I mean "Pelosi-care."

Dede Scozzafava made herself a spectacle by proving that she was actually MORE Liberal than her Democratic "rival," Bill Owens!

This wasn't a slap at Moderate Republicans, by Palin, Rudy and the Right, her very nomination, by a cynical and inept NYS GOP, was a direct slap BY the Rockefeller-wing of that Party at its Conservative base.

What the NYS crew managed to do with this idiotic nomination was to taint the likes of Newt Gingrich, John Boehner and Eric Cantor with their putrid stench....and that's NOT good for Conservatism going forward.

Thanks a lot NYS's GOP!

PAA you said

You need to do a little more research. As a voter in the 23rd district there are many more differences between the 2.

Scozzafava supported the $787B Stimulus, Card Check, during her Assembly races embraced the ACORN backed Working Families Party and had no comment when asked if she would run as a Republican in 2010. Her husband, president of the Central Trades and Labor Council, has been discussing her switching parties for a few months now.

If the only difference was abortion and gay rights Hoffman would not have garnered the support he has.

I am tired of hearing people saying the voters of my district threw her under the bus because of her stance on gay marriage and abortion. She was more liberal than the Democrat and never should have been on the ticket in the first place.

Tug, I said that, "I know literally nothing about upstate N.Y. politics. So it's left up to the voters in NY-23rd." But since you asked that I do a "little more research", I did just that!

First off, I found that Hoffman does not even live in your district. Secondly, the vast majority of his support, political endorsements and political financing, came from outside of your state!.

At one time in this country it was said that "all politics were local." Oh well...so much for old cliche's...

Conspicuously, in the closing hours of the campaign, Hoffman picks up the endorsement of former Gov. George Pataki and former mayor Rudy Giuliani (who both by the way are pro-choice and support gay rights). Rudy and George appears to be the uncles or relatives whom seem to show up just about the time dinner is served... or just when the bar opens...

tughillmcd;"I am tired of hearing people saying the voters of my district threw her under the bus because of her stance on gay marriage and abortion".

Well Tug, I get tired of "gay marriage and abortion" being political issues myself. Perhaps you should relay your "tiredness" to the conservative political machine....INCLUDING HOFFMAN! Take a look at the Issues Section to the right on his Web Page. The very first issue he list's is "GAY MARRIAGE"!!

I didn't say the "ONLY" difference was abortion and gay marriage. I said a "KEY ISSUE" was gay marriage and abortion.

According to the conservative group at Politico and a QEV Analytics poll of voters in the district, 50% (half) of Hoffman’s supporters said that Scozzafava’s support for the legalization of same-sex marriage was a factor in their decision not to support her.
Whereas 45% of Hoffman’s supporters say that his position on same-sex marriage was a factor in their decision to vote for him.

Sounds like a "key" constituency to me...

True Frank. Sarah Palin or Pawlenty didn't make Hoffman. He was his own man before be appeared on the political radar. The left's mental instability over Palin is a sight to behold. If Sarah was to walk into a room full of her haters. I would actually fear for her safety. These people are very unhinged Frank. Their Idolization of Obama runs so deep that any person who is seen as a threat is loathed by the Obama cultist.

Frank Durpree "Just from the recent polling data, it looks like Hoffman is poised to pull of a big win."

As I am writing this, it looks like Hoffman is behind. So he might just lose. It's not over yet. Hoffman came into the race late and took the arrows of the GOP machine. I still give him props if he loses.

You did research allen? Dam, it must going to know this weekend!! :-0

P Allen "First off, I found that Hoffman does not even live in your district. Secondly, the vast majority of his support, political endorsements and political financing, came from outside of your state!."

And your point is what allen? There is no crime against candidates receiving financing and endorsements from out of state. A ton of money came into the Senate race from the DNC for Bin Cardin when he went up against Michael Steele. Did you say anything about Biden campaigning for Owens allen. I read your comments, and I didn't see one pep out of you on that. You also didn't mention that the DNC was doing robo calls for Owens. These are all outside forces that you predictably neglected to mention.

p allen "At one time in this country it was said that "all politics were local." Oh well...so much for old cliche's..."

Tell that to Biden who went up to district 23 to give a speech for Owens, and also tell that to Obama who went to New Jersey 3 TIMES to campaign for Corzine!! You can be quiet now allen.

Notice that they only endorsed Hoffman after the leadership of the GOP did allen. The GOP had to save face after Scozzafava humiliated the GOP when she turned on them. They can also be accused of being party hacks as well. You three have something in common then allen. lol

Wait! Could it be Obama's secret socialist election stealing covert counter anti-conservative voter frauding...."ACORN???" Who's responsible for this tragic loss???I know!...It's ACORN and their partners in crime...THE MUSLIMS!!

I've contacted Sarah Palin with the information we've gathered. Palin is on her way to NY's 23rd to lead the protest against ACORN, Muslims, Death Panels, Levi Johnston, The Bush Doctrine and Mary Hart's wardrobe.

Actually it's not a same Allen. Time for me rain on your parade. First off, no Republican was running allen. Second off, the Republican that ran is a republican conservatives never would vote for. I could give a rats rear end about Scozzafava. I'm a conservative first and foremost just like Scozzafava is a liberal first and foremost. Think about it allen. You know I can't stand liberal and RINO Republicans, so what make you think I cared one bit about Dede winning? My screen name isn't liberal brother you know. lol

No allen, the vast right wing conspiracy took the governor elections from Corzine and Deeds lol

I heard Levi is posing for Playgirl magazine. This guy is the ultimate C list celebrity. Speaking of Death Panels, I see that Palin is still stuck in your brain hard allen. That death panel comment of hers still is going strong among you libs. I love it how this one woman has the ability to make you and others foam at the mouth in loathing angst towards her. Its just hilarious.
