Back on Monday.
I am taking a few days off for to catch up on some R & R. No, I'm not talking about Romney and Ryan. I do have some things to get off my chest when I return Monday about the whole Todd Akins thing and how I feel conservatives have gone off the deep in trying to destroy him for not dropping out of the Missouri race. I'm going to give a perceptive that nobody on talk radio or the new media or the blogs will give. So stay tuned.

It's really admirable that you're supporting what Todd Akin said. He may have misspoken when he said “legitimate rape”, but the crux of what he said is consistent with the republican platform. They have gone on record supporting the proposed Human Life Amendment to the Constitution. In it there is no exception for rape or incest. That means there is no difference between the official Republican position and the position of Todd Akin.
Republicans believe that a ferilized embryo is a human being with all of the rights of an actual breathing human being. If you believe that, how could you warrant the deliberate destruction of a fertilized embryo or fetus at any stage of development, no matter how it came into being? You would still have to call it murder or the whole moral position comes apart.
Why vilify Todd Akin when the entire party support the exact same position? Even though Todd Akin's statement about how the female body reacts to a rape was scientifically inaccurate it is less punitive toward women whom the Republicans want to force to carry unwanted pregnancies to term. At least Akin can claim that he thinks that pregnancy hardly ever happens in cases of rape.
Looking forward to it.
