The Obama 47%: Would you ever vote for a candidate just because you got a "free" cellphone?

When people become bottom feeders to society, they will always vote for the candidate they will give them "free" stuff, even though that free stuff always comes from taxes on the money other people work to earn. The right to vote is one of the most important rights American citizens have, and it should never be taken for granted. Here's a question. Does your vote have a price? In other words, would you yourself vote for a candidate simply, because you got something from them? In my continuous look into the Obama 47%, I came across a video of an Obama supporter protesting at a Romney rally outside Cleveland Ohio yesterday. She's a woman who doesn't care about the issues facing this country, all this voter cares about is that "she got a free cellphone" and that's good enough for her, and she's voting for Obama.

If you're shaking your head in astonishment, yeah I know. Maybe some can help me on this. Did this woman say "Keep Obama in President"?

First off, you can find an ignorant American (black, white, asian, etc...) almost anywhere. The woman in the video is obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

CB;"candidate they will give them "free" stuff, even though that free stuff always comes from taxes on the money other people work to earn".

Not quite Tyrone. Unlike you, I always do research. In fact the "Free Cell Phone" program is actually subsidized by the phone companies themselves. The Universal Service Fund (USF) was created by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1997 to meet Congressional universal service goals as mandated by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Many objectors like yourself have been misled without checking out the facts.

It;s obvious the woman in the video is attempting to milk the system. Hell, she's so dumb she doesn't even know that Obama has nothing to do with the phone. However, she's only one person caught saying something very ignorant and classless. The problem I have with video is the "image" the producer of the video is obviously attempting to present. You have a small group of protesters waving signs and spouting anti Romney sentiments. Moreover, the protest video is taped in the major battleground state of Ohio.

My research shows that Lifeline Free Phone program is available in 17 states. Yet Cleveland, Ohio and this particular woman was chosen to go viral as the face of the "Obama Phone" tax payer dollar give away of government free stuff? So now we have a right-wing tag line that meant to play to who? Let's see here... an ignorant loud inarticulate black woman, spouting the glory of Obama's free stuff government give away, in a key battleground state the Republicans need to win in the general election. The tag line?

"The Obama 47%: Would you ever vote for a candidate just because you got a "free" cellphone?".

Even though the "Free Phone" program was around long before a President Obama. Even though the FCC is looking to reform the program to prevent further fraud. Even though "TAX PAYERS DO NOT SUBSIDIZE THE PROGRAM." Yet, in Ohio, (and on your blog Tyrone) Mitt Romney's 47% want's a free cell phone?????

This election cycles Republican and right-wing themes are some of the "stupidest" political themes I have ever seen! And American thought that GW Bush was dumb...

I never said that obama created the program did I allen? I do recall saying that people who support him are more likely to abuse the program.

lol, how come the free cellphone program is costing tax payers $2.1 billion dollars a year if tax payers do not subsidize the program allen? Explain that. Here's the FCC report on the program. Scroll down to page 153 and read it for yourself allen.

Even working class families too struggle, and sometime they go to get public assistant. It depends on the person's income on how much a person should receive assistant. Sometime, welfare cannot guarantee that person's security.

I knew a family years ago, the patriarch was a carpenter and wife was a homemaker.

When he was not getting enough work to support his family, because he was a contracted, or on-call carpenter, and the family was struggling, they applied for for food stamps to get by. They were denied because he made a little too much.

Why should the government show any favoritism for people by giving free cell phones, food stamps, and financial assistant for those who refuse to work?

Last I heard about welfare was a controversy I read about was should it be mandatory nationwide for people who are applying for welfare to take a drug test.

So, what's a free cell phone suppose to accomplish? It doesn't put food on your table or pay your bills? If you need a cell phone and cannot afford one, try Tracfone.

Ahhhh... where's the FCC report? You gave no link...

This quote is from the Q&A on the FCC Website.

"Who Pays for the Lifeline Program?

All telecommunications service providers and certain other providers of telecommunications must contribute to the federal USF based on a percentage of their end-user telecommunications revenues. These companies include wireline telephone companies, wireless telephone companies, and certain Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) providers.

Some consumers may notice a “Universal Service” line item on their telephone bills. This line item appears when a company chooses to recover its USF contributions directly from its customers by billing them this charge. The FCC does not require this charge to be passed on to customers. Each company makes a business decision about whether and how to assess charges to recover its Universal Service costs"
.

Please provide a link to an FCC report that says "the free cellphone program is costing tax payers $2.1 billion dollars a year."

I'll wait....

lol. Take a closer look at that statement allen. You are missing seeing the forest for the trees. The telecom companies are REQUIRED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE USF! The telecom companies are passing on the FCC mandate expense on to it's customers!!! The telecom customers are still paying the expense to the telecom company so that the telecom company can pay the USF!! If the telecom companies weren't required by the FCC to pay into the USF, the telecom companies wouldn't have to charge their customers that extra expense every month on their bill. It's flow through expense recovery on behalf of the telecom providers. How could you miss what you posted?

"A democracy cannot survive as a permanent form of government. It can last only until its citizens discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority (who vote) will vote for the candidates promising the greatest benefits from the public purse, with the result that a democracy will always collapse from loose fiscal policies, always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's greatest democratic nations has been 200 years. Each has been through the following sequence:

•From bondage to spiritual faith.

•From faith to great courage.

•From courage to liberty.

•From liberty to abundance.

•From abundance to complacency.

•From complacency to selfishness.

•From selfishness to apathy.

•From apathy to dependency.

•And from dependency back again into bondage.

Can we escape this fate?"

-Lord Thomas B. Macaulay, 1857

Apparently, we can't . . .

If anyone gets something for free they'll vote for Obama. Gas, cellphones, food stamps, etc.

And if Obama is black they'll vote Obama. Just ask JAY-Z. Not for content of character but the color of his skin cause he's gotta respect that.

Look Tyrone, you said that the cell phones are, ""free" stuff, even though that free stuff always comes from taxes on the money other people work to earn." I told you clearly, "NOT QUITE." The Universal Service Administrative Company is an independent, non profit corporation created in 1997 to collect universal service contributions from telecommunications carriers. The programs and universal service fund are under the oversight of the FCC.

Thus, "your TAX dollars that you work for" do not, I repeat DO NOT fund the program. However, if you want to say that the phone companies are TAXING you to pay for the program, then (and only then) you would be right. The fact is you don't have to buy or pay for cell phone service. Thus, your two or three dollars would not go to (as you claim) the "47 percent."

CB;" How could you miss what you posted?".

Quite the contrary Tyrone... Why didn't you read what I posted? Moreover, I'm still waiting for the "FCC report on the program. Scroll down to page 153." I've looked for one and can't seem to find it. Can you post the link to shut me u...uhhh, uh, I mean help me out?

Allen you are almost correct; once again. The tax is on telecommunication service providers, which includes regular telephone line services - not just cell phone services. It's a tax because it's a fee mandated by the FCC to pay for a program to provide cell phones to the "needy." If it were voluntary, I doubt the program would get very many contributions.
