Something to think about.

While the Federal Assault Weapons ban was law from 1994 to 2004, something happened  in 1999 that the law was suppose to have prevented from happening but didn't

So if the original Federal Assault Weapons ban didn't stop a mass shooting from happening at Columbine, how is Senator Diane Feinstein reintroducing the same bill going to prevent any other mass shootings from happening in the future?

It won't prevent it from happening again. Just as the swine flu shots each year doesn't prevent some people from dying from the flu, yet we still have mass inoculations. The idea is to have "fewer" of these types of guns available for maniacs like Lanza. Anyone with common sense knows that guns will never be purged from American society. Guns and the right to own them are imbedded in the culture, and no politician dare not propose a change, or the removal of that right from the U.S. Constitution.

Fear and paranoia are the greatest motivators known to man. At the present we are experiencing an unprecedented surge in gun sales. It's undeniable that this up-tick in sales has it's roots in fear.
On another thread Wesley Williams saw it this way;

"The right in America thinks that there will be a race war. They want these weapons of war so as to defend their families. Until you admit this, we are just spinning our wheels".

I won't say that "ALL" on the right are thinking this way. But I will say that there are many who do. Although, I do believe that most of the people rushing out to buy assault type weapons are fearful and paranoid. Most right wingers indeed do have the belief that the government (President Obama) will outlaw and ban all guns. Paranoia of this type is not healthy and can cause "some people" to act irrationally because of rumors, misinformation, or outright lies.

The fact is, there is only one purpose for a rifle that can fire off 50 plus high powered rounds in less than a minute. It's purpose is to "kill people." An AR-15 with a 100 round clip in the hands of a maniac is just as bad as a "hand grenade" in the hands of a maniac. Yet, hand grenades are illegal? Hell, even a federal license is required to buy dynamite.

Bottom line, the only reason for the "MASSES" of average Americans to own semi-automatic or automatic high powered large magazine weapons is paranoia and fear...

Keep telling yourself that but if you just open your eyes and look at the real world, you will see we are slowly but certainly loosing our freedoms daily. Government and it's influence over us continues to grow. I will have every natural right to my life and to those i care for to defend life and if it means killing in self-defense, so be it. You should keep an open mind and just watch what Dianne Feinstein has said in the past and what she is saying now so at least you can get a clue, you could possibly do some research on the Chicago area as well and see why it is so violent and yet has the strictest gun control laws around.
