Is there something in the water that make progressives uncontrollable liars?

I've been trying for the longest time to figure out the thought process of a progressive. I think that my problem is that I can't connect with irrational people. I'm not tooting my own horn as if I am some sort of Vulcan like Mr. Spock or something. These people are just who they are. They are either living in a warped mindset 24/7 or they are pathological liars who can't help from lying on a constant basis. If I was to say that the unemployment rate didn't increase under Obama, chances are many of you would be thinking that I have lost my freaking mind or must be taking some power mind altering drugs. Well, what if the Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee Debbie Wasserman Schultz said it instead? Appearing on Fox News, Debbie Wasserman Schultz made a statement that only a person who believes 1+1=5 could accept as being true.

Liberalism is a mental disorder, is it not? How can a rational thinking Democrat not be embarrassed by Debbie Downer? Her saying that the unemployment rate hasn't increased under Obama, is like the Captain of the Titanic saying that the ship really wasn't sinking right after it struck the iceberg. The unemployment rate wasn't 8.9% when Obama took office, it was below 8%. So using common sense, that would mean that the unemployment rate went up under Obama. Obama supporters who believe Debbie Dower might want to reread what I just said a few more times so that it will click. Let me try a different approach. If more people are looking for a job now as compared to January of 2009, chances are that the unemployment rate has gone up under Obama, sorry hope and changers. Does Debbie Wasserman Schultz has a serious credibility program or a serious mental program or both. Only a person not in their right mind would believe anything that comes out of her mouth.

Both Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Gretchen Carlson were spinning their figures and biases. In "FACT", unemployment was rising precipitously before President Obama took office. When Reagan took office in 1980 the unemployment rate was 7.1%. By December 1982 the rate jumped to 10.8%. You can't find a conservative today that will say that the Reagan administration was the cause.

It's common for our economy to go through these cycles. The unfortunate fact is that, a recession's rise and fall often occurs during a presidential campaign. The irony is that when the economy turns sour the president gets the blame. When the situation turns for the better, and/or is rolling along good, the president gets the credit. In 2008 the economy was sinking economy was key to the Republican loss in the presidential election.

I'd be the first to admit that it was George Bush the elder's tax increases in 1990 that led to the Clinton budget surplus. Yet, Clinton was credited with balancing the budget, and the surplus.

But when President Obama took office the U.S. budget and the economic situation was almost as bad as what we had seen since the depression. It's like the back-up quarterback entering the game down by 45 points with 2 minutes left. You can't expect him to bring the team back from a deficit that took entire 60 minute game to build. Yet, Republicans want to blame the score on the replacement quarterback for his mere 2 minutes of play. Unfortunately, in politics, that's just the way it is...

I didn't know that Obama was the Reagan allen, thanks for sharing. Gretchen made a simple factual statement. The unemployment rate from the time Obama was sworn in to day has risen period. Obama said that the unemployment rate wouldn't rise above 8% under his watch, it has. Can you spin his own words?

p allen "It's common for our economy to go through these cycles."

laughable as usual. When the unemployment rate started going up in the last year of Bush, progressives were saying it was due to "bush's economy", but now when the same happens to Obama, it's just an "economic cycle". Your statement actual is correct for once, the economy does move in cycles, however government policies, and legislation does impact how long an economy stays in expansion or decline.

p allen "The irony is that when the economy turns sour the president gets the blame. When the situation turns for the better, and/or is rolling along good, the president gets the credit. In 2008 the economy was sinking economy was key to the Republican loss in the presidential election. "

You got it!!! I'm impressed allen. James Carville said it best "it's he economy stupid". That is why I laugh when progressives mock the republican field of candidates, because at the end of the day, it comes down to whether the American people have a vote of confidence in how Obama is handling the economy, and they DO NOT. John Kerry tried to run on theme that the economy was bad back in 04, but there was one main problem with his strategy. The unemployment rate was at a near record LOW and people knew it. The economy was chugging along at near full employment. Some economists are saying that the actual unemployment rate right now is actually 11%. So Debbie Downer can try and fool those who are naive enough to be fooled. The rest aren't buying what she is saying, because they know better.

Next i bet you will say that FDR had nothing to do with prolonging the great depression in the 30s because of implementing a load of government mandates which hurt the market recovery. How is your Keynesian Model Economics doing by the way today?

Eddie;"Next i bet you will say that FDR had nothing to do with prolonging the great depression in the 30s because of implementing a load of government mandates which hurt the market recovery".

First off, like President Obama (Democrat), FDR (Democrat) took over the office from Hoover (Republican), after the economic downturn began. The "market economy" was already in ruins when FDR took office, that is a "FACT."

Second, if a president can be blamed for his predecessors ill advised trade legislation (Smoot–Hawley Tariff) persistent drought, businesses and families defaulting on loans, and bank failures, then "sure", blame FDR! In 2008 we saw the latter 2 of the 4, so you can blame the current recession on G.W. Bush.

Here's something you might not know, or even believe Eddie. By 1942, under mounting national debt and heavy new taxes, the Great Depression came to an end. When FDR died in office the country was in rapid economic growth with an unemployment rate around 2%, that is a "FACT." Of course there was that little skirmish called World War II that caused all that spending and taxation, but hey, s#!t happens...

However, we can argue all day and night about the causes of the Depression and never come to agreement.

If you really want historic facts, posed in a fair and unbiased account about the lives of the average American during Great Depression, I suggest you read, "The Great Depression: America 1929-1941" by Robert McElvaine.
