The most famous social warfare line that John Edwards was known for was his catch phrase "The Two Americas". When Edwards was campaigning twice for the Democrat nomination for President he always referred to what he perceived as the America that caters to the rich, and the other America were everybody else lives. I saw through this clown's socialist spew four years ago when he originally ran for President. Like a typical liberal, Edwards expected people to be so stupid that they couldn't see how much of a lying hypocrite he truly was. Here's some classic examples. When Edwards was speaking at campaign rallies, he would talk about how "the rich don't pay their fare share in taxes". Edwards didn't tell his audiences that he didn't pay his own fair share. It was discovered that Edwards established an S Class dummy corporation so he didn't have to pay medicare taxes. That's one example of his hypocrisy. He claimed to be the "champion of the working guy". Not to many working guys can build a $ 6 million dollar house compound. That's what Edwards did a few years ago in North Carolina, Also not many if any of the working class paycheck to paycheck stiffs can afford to spend three hundred dollars on haircuts like Edwards did. Those examples are hypocrisy number two. This example of hypocrisy is the most revealing about Edward in regards to him being a righteous family man. During the 2004 Presidential campaign. John Edwards along with John Kerry had a photo op at a Wendy's fast food place. John Edwards said that every year him and his wife Elizabeth celebrate their wedding anniversary at the Wendy's where they had their "first date". In the case of this photo op, as soon as the cameras were off Edwards and Kerry, they dumped the common man fast food for a catered upscale lunch in their campaign bus. Oh, it gets better. Edwards left out a very important detail last year when he was in New Orleans announcing he was running again for president. Edwards didn't mention that he was an investor in a hedge fund that was foreclosing on homes in the New Orleans area. Liberals are very good at presenting a false positive image of who they really are, they can only hide the truth but so long. This is why the story of Edwards having an affair doesn't surprise me in the least. Even though the story was broke by the National Enquirer, I still believed it just because John Edwards was involved.

The fact that he is an attorney and that he did not bother to sue the Inquirer when this came out in December made me think that there was some truth to the story. He is still lying when he says that the affair is over. Either that or the relationship with her is not sexual anymore or financial. Otherwise he would not have been caught seeing her in the middle of the night in a hotel. Again if there was no truth to this he would have sued the pants off of the Inquirer like Tom Cruise did a few years ago and Carol Burnett did when I was a little girl. Even though the Inquirer is a rag magazine I would think they would at least be trying really hard to get the stories right seeing how much money they have paid out in lawsuits over the years.
Even though I have a major problem with adultery the bigger issue to me is the fact that it is obvious that the media knew that this story was true a long time ago but refused to report it. Even after the story resurfaced a few weeks ago only Fox News would report the story. They did their own investigation and confirmed the story. The other networks tried to poo poo the story knowing full well they knew the story was true. The NYT boldly reported rumors about John McCain that they knew were false but refused to report a true story that they knew was true. I know this is old hat but this is one of the most egregious of examples to me.
I cannot say I paid all that much attention to John Edwards, especially after it came out that he paid hundreds of dollars for a haircut:) The thing that is nice is that there is alternative media that will report the foibles of the left just as aggressively as the MSM jumps with glee to report on the right. Smart people can vent the news and determine for themselves what is true and what is false. It is being exposed more and more these days.

Why would he still have contact with her in the first place pamela, if the affair was over? I seriously doubt Elizabeth would remotely approve of him meeting his "former" flame. Something else is going on here. The only thing I can think of that can connect Edwards to his former hump buddy is a "love child". Edwards might as well come clean, the little bit of credibility is already shot. He didn't think the facts were going to come out, and they did. Then again now that I think about it, why did he meet with her at a very late hour, he should have been home tending to his wife.

Exactly pamela, if Edwards was a Republican or Conservative, the story would have broke right then and there.The hypocrisy is sickening, and the blatten bias is so overwhelming obvious. The Mainstream media thought they could just sit on the story and it would go away, they thought wrong. The bloggers came through again and validated the enquirer's story. The media had no choice but to cover it.

Thats why liberals hate Fox so much. Fox actually does their job of reporting news.The mainstream media to this day still can't stand Matt Drudges's guts for breaking the story of Bill Clinton and Monica aka cigargate. The Edwards is just another example in a mounting list of examples why the media in our country is liberal BS passed off as journalism.

I remember that pamela. I don't now of anyone that reads the NYT's. No wonder they are losing money hand over fist. I think people are finally starting to see the media for what it is. People started to become affair of the liberal bias with Dan Rather trying to pass off fake letters as legit in regards to Bush and the National Guard. It's funny, there Bush Derangement Syndrome as made them extremely slopping in them trying to keep up the illusion that they "just report the news".

Most of America did pay much attention Edwards when he ran twice for president and once for vice president pamela. I feel so sorry for his wife and kids. They deserve better then that scum bag.

Thats the guy conservative black ma. He sued them using "junk science" and dumbed down juries. Edwards and people like hm are the poster childs for why our health care system is in the shape that it is in. Many good doctors have had to quit their practices, because Edwards made them look like they were negligent when they weren't.

What can I say Allen, some people like us are just old fashion. Silly us, we actually expect that the person to hold the most powerful office in the world, actually have some moral integrity. Clinton cigargate was exposed, liberals said that it was no big deal.

I called him Mr. Two Americas when he was running for candidate. I used his foreign policy essay as part of an assignment last year and my students (9th graders) all thought it was a very weak essay. None of this is surprising although it is disappointing. Of course liberals don't do morals so I'm sure it's all good with them anyway...
I noticed in the Edwards interview, how he attempted to downplay the National Enquirer as a "supermarket tabloid." The whole time, I was thing that the supermarket tabloid has more credibility than you do, because the tabloid hasn't lied to the American people, your wife, or your babies mama.
Only among liberals would a man who get busted on a booty call while cheating on his terminally ill wife believe he still has a political future. What an arrogant idiot John Edwards must be. The only folks dumber are those who support them. The only reason Edwards ran for national office, is because the people of NC would never support him. His failure to carry his own state as VP is proof.
As I said previously, these folks are "Dem and Dumber." Edwards supporters are of the same mindset that elected and defend the actions of the mayor of Detroit.

Yes, Tyrone because of lawyers like Edwards, doctors pay ridiculous premiums for malpratice. I am an underwriter for a major malpractice insurer and I feel for the doctors. They get sued so often and most of the time they are frivolous lawsuits. Frivolous lawsuits are the liberal way of life.

It's my belief, as it is with many here in Detroit, that he and his wife were [possibly] somehow involved in the murder of Tamara Green.
As for the house, nope it's not one of mine. However, the mortgage crisis has hit Metro Detroit residents hard. The Detroit Metro area has the nations highest rate of foreclosure. Low property values and "extremely" high property taxes makes it difficult to even "give away" a house in Detroit.
I wish I had this guy's energy.

Nice try Allen. I told you before, I'm not a fan of McCain, and I'm not a partisan hack . lol What McCain did was just as wrong. Both were wrong. Isn't it odd allen that you tried to deflect attention away from Edwards by bringing up McCain, yet I came out against both?lol Oh and by the way Allen, McCain isn't a conservative. If I recall right allen, liberals swore that the sole reason republicans went after clinton to get him impeached was the affair. Either liberals are that stupid or that naive. The whole issue was about Clinton lying under oath. Wait a minute, I just thought of something. When Clinton actually lied under oath to try and cover up his affair with Monica, liberals supported Clinton by saying any man would say anything to save his family the embarrassment. In other words liberals tried to rationalize Clinton's lying under oath. When Scooter Libby couldn't recall some information to some questions and guested the answers, liberals demanded he went to jail and took joy when he did. I thought my city of Baltimore was the liberal arm pit of the nation, guess I was wrong. The city of Detroit could lower property taxes to help relieve the financial burden on it's citizens, na liberals love raising taxes not lowering them. Keeping high property taxes in place in the mist of an economic down turn is as smart as sticking a fork into an electrical outlet.

It is really sad to see places like Detroit go down hill, but 95% of mortgages are NOT in foreclosure. When people are permitted to get a mortgage with bad credit and without being required to provide a down payment, walking a way is easy when you have negative equity. Hopefully you are picking up some good investment property. If the DEMS don't accuse you of making a "winfall profit" you should do well well when the area starts back on the upswing.

It's true that the vast majority of mortgages are not in foreclosure. But the fact is that most of those that ARE in foreclosure are "sub-prime" loans. Let's not forget that back in 2004-05 many pundits gave the Bush administration credit for increasing the number of black and minority homeownership. Yet, during that time, there were many that saw what was occuring, and basically were able to "read the handwriting on the wall"!

"Blacks who bought homes in communities across America last year were four times as likely as whites to get high interest rates for mortgage loans, according to an Observer analysis of records from 25 of the nation's largest lenders.
Even blacks with incomes above $100,000 a year were charged high rates more often than whites with incomes below $40,000.
For decades, African Americans struggled to get loans at any price. Lenders ignored entire black neighborhoods, a practice called redlining.
Last year, the nation's 10 largest banks still denied black applicants twice as often as whites. On average they made only 5 percent of their home loans to blacks.
A new group of companies has filled the void. These 'subprime' lenders, companies such as Ameriquest and New Century, charge higher interest rates than banks.
The result: In 2004, blacks received twice as many home purchase loans as a decade ago.
But one in every four is paying a steep price."
The exact same thing occured here in Detroit. Mind you, there was a small percentage of loans that were made to individuals who should have never qualified for home loans, but over 85% of the loans that have been foreclosed were sub-prime.
Basically, the Bush administration set the stage for the predatory lending practices. Although you may imply that the individiual borrower be more astute when taking a mortgage, you must keep in mind that most of these people were never able to even apply, let alone recieve a mortgage. Thus, you have a ready made formula for predatory lending.

I saw no mention of credit score, income-to-debt ratio, etc. So, the income may be higher, however the ability to repay a loan may not be greater. So, someone making $40K with a 800 FICO score may very well qualify for a loan when someone making $100K and a 350 score score may not.

Absolutely true. And I'm sure a percentage of certain percentage of those loans (with regard to black borrowers) were based on credit scores. However, a recent study conducted by the Center for Responsible Lending found that minority borrowers were targeted by some lenders.

Moreover, certain large major banking and mortgage lenders had for years "redlined" many minority nieghborhoods regardless of income and credit scores. The practice is what brought in the predatory lenders in the first place.
The situation here in Detroit is twice as bad as it is around the rest of the country. I'll breifly explain...
First off... In 1994 Michigan voters passed a proposal (PROP. A)amending the Finance and Taxation code. The new law limited the annual assessment increase for each property parcel to 5% or inflation rate, whichever is less. However, if the property is sold or transferred, an adjusted assessment will then apply to the current value.
Simply put, if you purchased a home after the law was in effect, you will pay higher taxes.
Secondly...the same year, prior to the passing of Proposal A, the new mayor of Detroit, Dennis Archer, siting that property values had not been reassessed in Detroit for more than 10 years, pushed through a proposal and done so.
The result...Within a 3 to 5 year period, home prices (in my opinion it was "price", not actual property value) more than doubled and in certain areas tripled. Enter- "the predatory lenders"... The rest of the story, you already know....

Banks and mortgage brokers don't make money offering bad loans to people....at least not to people who have any other options.
People who take "bad loans" are either (A) STUPID, as that's the best way to describe people who don't avail themselves of all available, better options....many stupid people, of all backgrounds do dumb things, like taking ARMs when rates are at historic lows and taking out low or no interest balloon mortgages with humongous lum sum payments down the road....or (B) NOT "credit-worthy" due to any number of reasons (ie. past bankruptcies, high debt/income ratios, etc.).
Generally, as a rule, there are few truly stupid people. That is, most people tend to know what's in their best interests and know enough to check around for "better deals."
The proof of that is that bad loans don't make profits for lenders.
That's easy enough to understand, right?
When people hiccup on those loans, the lender loses money.
Banks hate foreclosures, because they're NOT realtors and when foreclosures rise, even when foreclosures rise in only a few areas - the home prices (at least in those areas) tend to plummet and that means recouping their losses becomes tougher.
That's why the "short-sale" was invented.
Enterprising citizens can usualy make a deal with the bank or outside lender and strike a deal to take over the payments of that house. Then that person turns around and, in effect, rents that home back to the now previous owners, hopefully covering nearly all of the "new costs" the short-seller set up with the lender.
It's kind of a "win-win."
The over-extended home buyer gets to stay in the house, while the short-seller gets ownership of and all the acruing equity from that house, so long as he/she is willing to wait for the market to improve.
