Why is Obama silent on the Hamas-Israeli conflict?

Reporters have been asking the Messiah and his transition team several times now for his thoughts on the violence between Hamas and Israel. If Obama is curled up in a fetal position hoping desperately that this situation is going to go away, he should brace himself for some bad news. With Israel sending ground troops into the Gaza Strip, it's almost a certainty that Israel's military operations will last more then sixteen days. So far the only response Obama's transition team has muttered was that he is "monitoring" the situation. Obama now can't pander to Muslims and then Jews like he did during his campaign. As President he has to actually come out with an official position one way or the other. Obama isn't use to making decisions that could have negative political consequences. I still remember when Obama was asked by Rick Warren about his position on abortion. Obama stuttered wildly then gave a lame answer that, "It's beneath my pay grade". As a State Senator in Illinois, Obama voted present on many legislative bills, because he was to scared to take an official position pro or con. The days of him threading the political needle and trying to have his cake and eat it too is over. Thank goodness, I never expected nor do I expect Obama to be a strong decisive leader. Now people will finally see what I and many others have already known .

On a side note: It looks like Israel is going for Hamas's throat. Israel's Prime Minister has given the order to send ground troops into Gaza to weed out Hamas. I hope they are successful with as few Israeli causalities as possible, and I hope they systemically wipe out Hamas for good! GO ISRAEL!!!

I hope Israel put a whippin on Hamas that they will never forget.

I have one question to those demanding that speak on this conflict. Can Obama be officially sworn into office before he has to perform his presidential duties???

It is Obama's fault. He gave a million press conferences before he went on vacation.

I totally agree with you here. I've rather agreed with Obama's "one president at a time" stance until now, but now I think he needs to speak up. Nobody has a clue which way he's going on this but given his past associations (Khalidi especially) I'm not too optimistic.

Nice blog, by the way!

It looks like Israel isn't going to give in to "international outrage". Good for them.

In 16 days Obama isn't going to have no choice. Another lame excuse that his flunkies are pushing and the media is running with is that Obama has no comment, because Bush is still the President. That is a weak excuse, because that hasn't stopped Obama from speaking on everything else since the election from his podium of the "Office of the President Elect". I believe he's scared to take an official position.

It is Obama's fault. He gave a million press conferences before he went on vacation.

Your right Pat, the one president at a time excuse does work up to a certain point. He is still talking about his FDR style so called stimulus package, yet he isn't President yet.

If Canadians or Mexicans were firing thousands of rockets into the United States, would the United States call for "restraint"? I don't think so. So why should Israel exercise restraint when they have done nothing wrong and is only trying to protect themselves? Most liberals can't comprehend something so elementarily simple. Pardon the pun, but it's not rocket science. To them however, it might as well be.

i AGREE WITH YOUR THOUGHTS, Hamas, who are friends to Jeremiah Wright and Farrahkan, have shot over 6000 Qusaam rockets into Israel and not one Arab said one word. 2 million Blu black Sudanese have been killed by the same Arabs in Palestine and not one word from any Black convert.
I hope the Israelis do what others dont have the guts to do. If I tell you to stop throwing rocks at my house with my family inside, and you keep on doing it, I will do my best to make sure you never raise up again! Fair is Fair. Muhammad made the Muslim promise upon his deathbed, to allow no other religion on the Arabian soil. Israel has defied this law of Islam. Arabs and their ilk have hated Israel since King David, Psalms 83, when the Arabs said they will drive the Jews into the sea. Hamas and the Arabs still say the same crap. Rome conquered Israel in BC and took it back in 70 CE and again in 135 CE. There have always been Jews in Israel, while the Palestians were in Jordan. Jordan kicked them out killing thousands and all were Muslims. In 1948, Roman via UN returned the title of the land to the Jews. Muhammad never went to Jerusalem, but only dreamed he went. I dreamed I went to the MOON!

Hey, I'm wondering why isn't Sarah Palin speaking out on this issue? She's not the president either!

Try asking, "what is George Bush DOING", rather than what Obama saying. You only have a couple of weeks left. Once he's sworn in, you can then start bashing his words and deeds.

I think you just may have hit on something there. That could actually be why Obama is silent. Obama did help "The Nation of Islam" leader Louis Farahkhan organize one of the million man marches. As for you said, Wright and Farahkhan are good friends, and at one time Obama was a practicing Muslim in Indonesia. If Obama was to side with Israel, that could put him in the dog house big time with his antisemitic friends on the south side of Chicago. Then again since Obama already got what he ultimately wanted politically, he may side with Israel and tell his former "associates" to kiss off. Another scenarios is that if Obama sides with the Palestinians, Israel may feel that since they no longer have a strong supporter being the United States ,it might as well just unleash its full force on all the Islamic groups and take out Iran's nuclear program. The United States is actually the only country many feel that is holding Israel back from going after Iran.

P Allen " Damn...If only we had 2 presidents at one time. Two presidents governing in 2 different directions. That would be fun..."

E for effort allen but thats it. Obama has been acting like he was the president since the first week after the election.
Allen, maybe you can explain to all of us what is

"THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT"

I checked out that little thing called the "constitution", and their is no mention of such a position allen. Anyways allen, from behind that logo of "The office of the President elect" everyday Obama holds a news conference commenting on everything from his trillion dollar great depression starter aka stimulus package to his job killer aka environmental policy. Since he can't do anything until he is sworn in, why is he commenting like there are indeed two presidents then allen? He is picking and choosing what he wants to comment on. It's ok though, in 15 days little barry is going to have to grow up real quick allen. Just like my old favorite television show growing up "Boy meets world".

P Allen "Hey, I'm wondering why isn't Sarah Palin speaking out on this issue? She's not the president either!"

That statement can't be for real can it? Read what I'm about to type very very very carefully while saying it extremely slowly. Are you ready allen? Ok here we go

"GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN IS NOT THE PRESIDENT ELECT OR PRESIDENT".

I'm very disappointed in you allenlol

P Allen "Try asking, "what is George Bush DOING", rather than what Obama saying. You only have a couple of weeks left. Once he's sworn in, you can then start bashing his words and deeds."

Why would Bush need to do anything allen. He's on his way out the door and Obama is on his way in. The world is looking at Obama right now allen,NOT BUSH. Even though Obama has 15 days before he wrecks the country, sorry I meant take over. People are looking to him for what his foreign policy is going to be. Sorry but Palin and Bush don't apply. It's all on little Barry allen.

Obama "ACTING" like the president?? Perhaps an Oscar is in order!

"Acting" (or pretending to be) like a president is what Bush is doing....

And yes, there is now an "Office of the President Elect"! His official duties are to endure bashing by the losing party of the election. The Repub's and conservatives picked up on it right away... See Tyrone, losing does have it's privileges!

Oh you mean the cancerous politics that liberals excel at for four years with their whining that they got robbed in Florida two elections ago and their constant race baiting directed at Bush, including the lowest digs thrown at him at Coretta King's funeral and blaming Bush for Katrina?

Hateful? Tell me about the "love" you "compassionate liberals" showed towards Governor Palin and then get back to me about being "hateful" skippy. You don't get it. Us conservatives can't wait for Obama to become President. The sooner Carter Jr. does his worst, oops I meant best, the sooner a true conservative will defeat him in 2012. You see the number issue why Obama won was the economy, and his "stimlus" plan is going to make matters much worse then they are now.Wait unitl Obama has to telll the American people that he does indeed have to raise taxes on ALL TAX PAYING AMERICANS in order to pay for his New Deal v2.0. That ought to go over well, NOT!! You mentioned something about "cancerous policies". Well the world wouldn't be in this financial crisis if it wasn't for the "cancerous","socialist" ideology of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd and Barney Franks, who are LIBERAL DEMOCRATS. FDR talked about a "chicken in ever pot". well thanks to liberals thinking that poor people should own homes they can't afford, the housing market self destructed, the credit markets is frozen on top of the stock market being in the tank. So you want to talk some more about "cancerous policies"? Paleoconservatism isn't going anywhere any time soon. It was Republicans running as true conservatives that allowed them to take control of congress to begin with. Crack open that history book and educate yourself. It was when Republicans abandoned their conservative principals that they lost control of congress also the White House. I got news for you skippy, the reason Bush's approval numbers are so low has a large amount to do with conservatives not being able to stand bush's gutts as much as you kooky liberals. Once again, do some research. The defeat of McCain will make it much harder for a liberal/neocon to win the Republican nomination in 2012, so actually paleoconservatives should thank Obama.

Yo liberal anonymous you creeps know an awful lot about hate because it dwells in your own hearts!

Obama put himself in this position by running his mouth like he's already sworn in! I know he won't be officially president until January 20th however he acted like he had just stepped into office and now the word is demanding he take a position.

It's easy to act like a president but it's much harder to take the reins!

Chilerkle, I'm still trying to find a liberal with an I.Q above 105 to tell me is the "Office of the President Elect" real or not. Tell have yet to find any takers, big surprise lol
Chilerkle, maybe the loyal sheep will have a differing opinion of Obama when he has them digging ditches on highways when it's 16 degrees outside lol Actually chilerkle, Obama is a pretty good actor. He fooled 63 million people into thinking he wasn't a mass marketed puppet with a limited vocabulary of "hope", "change", "yes we can". I can't wait until the 20th!!!!!!It is going to be so much fun watching their beloved cult leader fall flat on his ass. lol

I’ll first address the little dummies, and then the big dummy.

Chilerkle: If holding news conferences to announce top-advisor appointments is “running his mouth,” then so be it. But don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Thyen Tran: I wouldn’t take a swipe at the “But You Didn’t Count Every Vote!” can of worms if I were you unless you’re OK with millions of Democrats laughing hysterically as Norm Coleman complains how it’s a travesty how a professional comedian “stole” the U.S. senate election in Minnesota. C’mon Theyn, I dare ya: Tell Normy to just “Get over it.”

Also, if you really believe that Bush & “Brownie” did “a heck of a job” with New Orleans and the hurricane and the poisonous trailers, then I’m sure at some point I’ll be banging my head against the concrete trying to convince you the sky is blue.

Conservative Brother: Look up the Presidential Transition Act of 1963 so you can stop being amazed that there really IS an Office of the President-Elect. Thanks. Not sure if my IQ is above 105, but I’m pretty sure it’s higher than yours. By about 50 points.

And yes, I’d be willing to place a rather large wager that History will be much kinder to Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank than it will be to Dubya, the moron that morons like YOU voted for. The moron who now can’t wait to sneak out of Washington before he literally blows up the frickin world.

Hey, here’s an idea: How about Rush and Savage and Buchanan and all of you other wild-eyed freaks tell the neo-cons to go to hell and then go start your own paleoconservative party. (Maybe you can call it the Hater Nation Party or something …) And let’s see how many times you win the White House without the GOP moderates. (Answer: Zero.) Someday they’re going to figure out that you need them a hell of a lot more than they need you. And then paleo-cons will be forced to either wake up, or just fade away …

And by the way, it wasn’t Roosevelt who promised “a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage.” It was Hoover. Crack open that history book, indeed, Tyrone.

No need to crack open a history book thanks, I aced U.S and World History in High School. Also my thesis in college was on the Great Depression. So here's a pat on the head for bringing an oversight to my attention.

anon "Hey, here’s an idea: How about Rush and Savage and Buchanan and all of you other wild-eyed freaks tell the neo-cons to go to hell and then go start your own paleoconservative party."

The Republican Party is the big tent party primarly because the Democrat Party has been overrun by mentally disturbed, socially inept liberal kooks. Al Franken, are you kidding me? Freaks?!!lol That' rich!!!lol When Palin came on the scene, you liberals reminded me of a person infected with rage virus in the movie 28 days lol. To pathetic but oh so funny.

P Allen "(Maybe you can call it the Hater Nation Party or something …) And let’s see how many times you win the White House without the GOP moderates. "

Hater? I can't recall any Democrats in congress that ran as pro lifers, gee I wonder why that is? I guess if you don't believe in killing those unborn "parasites", then the Democrat Party doesn't "like" you. So where are does great Democrat "moderates" and "conservatives". Silly me, they left the funny farm and went to the GOP.

anon "(Answer: Zero.) Someday they’re going to figure out that you need them a hell of a lot more than they need you. "

-10 points for trying to substitute stupidity for common sense. The reality is in history. Go back to the Republican Primaries last year. Every Republican candidate repeatitely involked th name of the greate "conservative" Ronald Wilson Reagan as the person they "most admired. Even the neocon John McCain said that "he was a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution".Why would a neocon like a McCain needed to say that he was a foot soldier of a paleocon? Interesting question is it not? The answer to "who needs who is obvious, just ask John McCain, Herbert Bush during re election and Bob Dole that question.

Skippy" And then paleo-cons will be forced to either wake up, or just fade away …"

silly boy lol Obama is the first liberal to win an election running as a liberal since Carter. When Republicans run as a Paleoconservatives against liberals, they win. Obama just proved that a liberal can beat a nonconservative like McCain. Until a liberal can beat a Paleo, True conservatism has no need to go away , but is only reinforced why it is needed in order to win. Starting with Reagan, Republicans controlled the White House for 20 out of 28 years or 5 out of 7 terms. That is with them running as paleoconservatives not the "new tone" neocons. Republicans took control of congress from liberal Democrats by running as paleocons not neocons. Republicans lost control of congress when they started to govern as neos and lost their principals an paleo. So I guess history is the best teacher after all.

skippy" And yes, I’d be willing to place a rather large wager that History will be much kinder to Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank than it will be to Dubya, the moron that morons like YOU voted for. The moron who now can’t wait to sneak out of Washington before he literally blows up the frickin world."

Didn't the misery index start under Carter? If that is so, I can't see why history would be nice to him. I'm sure the index was started for a perfectly good reason.Just a hunch. As for Clinton, Clinton is known for lying under oath, cheating on his wife, disrespecting perfectly good cigars and a certain intern. Selling our country's secrets to China, not accepting Obama Bin Lade when he was offered to him on a silver platter. and is administration not stopping the 19 911 hijackers that trained in Florida to fly airplanes right under his nose. Can't forget Somali and Bosnia, the bombing of the Colbert Towers with no response and the bombing of the USS Cole also with no response from Clinton. I guess history will only be kind to Clinton and Carter if people are taught their history in the first place or in a revisionist light. As for Bush, I'm not going to defend him. I still hold him in a higher regard then those two.

skippy "Conservative Brother: Look up the Presidential Transition Act of 1963 so you can stop being amazed that there really IS an Office of the President-Elect. Thanks. Not sure if my IQ is above 105, but I’m pretty sure it’s higher than yours. By about 50 points."

I looked up the PTA the very same day I saw Obama behind the podium displaying the logo. It still didn't mention anything about the "Office of the President Elect". It is an implied position within the act.I'm not even going to nit pick about it. I'll wait 13 days then go after him when he is standing behind the real thing.

Me: Precisely. I am NOT Republican (who outside of a few conservatives, don't deserve the Christian vote), so not my concern. I am concerned if fraud does take place.

I happen to live in the state of Florida by the way.

Much of the complaints about the election allegedly being "stolen" in FL was people claim they messed their voting and they complain they got disenfranchise since they were not allowed to do over their voting. Whose fault is that?

The fact that Democrats use those cases to cry foul is enough for me not to take their claims of fraud seriously. It only shows me how shameful they are.

If the election is stolen in Minnesota, it adds merit to the fact Democrats live in glasshouses throwing stones at others always constantly alleging they cheat them out of elections.

But let's get real here: Democrats have a track record of cheating in elections, too. And the image they have with association with ACORN does not help either. And I don't mean just by this election either.

Not saying Republicans are much better. They are not.

But just saying here's the deal: Democrats spend eight years whining. The past election we just had is just a few months.

You embarrass yourself with that attempt at comparison while throwing the label dummy around.

Namecalling only makes the namecaller look foolish.
