The speech Obama should be giving on the current events in Iran, but Obama isn't Reagan.

Reagan knew all about the power of freedom. He knew it was worth fighting for and worth dying for. This is why Obama my be a "historic" president, but he'll never be a "great" president like Reagan.

Obama and his legions say that America should just sit back and say absolutely nothing about the civil unrest in Iran. Contrast the speech President Reagan gave on freedom to the words of Obama on "staying out of Iran's business".

Amen. Obama is a scam artist and a long-legged mack-daddy. He will go down in history as the most under-qualified and ill-equipped president in hisory. Let's hope and pray he doesn't completely destroy AMerican first.

OBama speak's so eloquently, so very articulate, but yet at the end of a long winded spiel, say's nothing. A typical diplomat walking on egg shells, careful not to "offend" anyone or interest group by taking a side.

Now I'm not suggesting he or any other president past or present suggest sending troops or some sort of military actions ... necessarily. But my God man, stand up like you have a pair! I also understand a man in power, saying something to incite more uprising would play on a man's conscience. Especially when so many will inevitably die by the direct intervention of the Iranian police, military and hamas.

But a golden opportunity has come about, whereby this president, along with any other world leader who see's this opportunity to take a stand and voice a stand at the very least. Yet I hear nothing. Friends, keep the youth of Iran in your thoughts. Because it look's as though they are alone. And at the end of the day, Obama will be there with an open, unclenched fist, with flowers and candy to the victor at the end of the day. Excuse me, but I think I just vomit a little in my mouth.

No disagreements on that Mr. Tent Trash. History will show that Obama beat two weak candidates in his rise from a state senator in Illinois to becoming the so called president. HIS qualifications truly were weaker then Biden's, Palin's and even McCain's. People that were actually caught up in the mind numb madness of "YES WE CAN" are starting to rethink their drunken insanity. Obama's governing is starting to hit too close to home. He won't destroy America, because he is starting to become toxic to even his democrats. Democrats are rising up against him on the spending, gitmo, health care etc. They see the internal polls back home, and Democrats know it will be political suicide for them to follow Obama any further left then they already have.

Without his telemprompter, the guy sounds like an audio version of road kill robb. I was 8 years old when Reagan took the oath of office. Now that guy was and eloquent speaker. When I listen to Obama, I become extremely ticked off. Reagan wasn't only just a great speaker, he was a motivator. His speeches made people feel good about being Americans. I must be suffering a huge disconnect, because I don't feel pride in being an American when I listen too Obama. Its almost like he's saying I should feel sorry for being an American. There is no inspiration listening to Obama. People that already have an unfavorable opinion of Obama are the main people that love his speeches. He's words appeal to a subset of American society that really hates everything this country stands for. Iran is one of the main problem child in the Middle East. An Iran that is toppled from within changes the whole dynamics of the Middle East. Obama is too stupid to see what is right in front of his face.

Hey T,

I agree with what you say about President Reagan. He was indeed motivational in his speech. Perhaps being an actor helped connect with people no doubt. Be that as it may, he was sincere and proud to be an American.

Unfortunately, you are right. We don't get that sense of pride from Obama. Even his wife never felt that "proud American feeling" until his husband got into office.

And you nailed it again T,.. Folks like Michelle and other's who never felt that "proud feeling" are the very one's in our society who wish to attack, distort, cripple and tare down this country. And then stand up and expect some sort of silver platter or payday, with stacks of gold coinage and benefits upon it.
It's such an upside-down view.

To sum this up, I got into it with some liberal kook the other day over this very issue over Iran. I had stated; " America was known as a symbol of freedom and democracy in the world." His reply; "Or did you mean to say America is a beacon of hatred, greed, dishonesty, and meddling in every other country's business?"

I had to ignore his reply, because I would have been admonished by the blog owner for going off on him.

Btw T, your doing a fantastic job here pal.

Perhaps you're to young to remember, but, during Reagan's first term in office, his rhetoric increased East-West tensions to levels that had no been seen since the Cuban Missile crisis.

Unlike the Iran of today, during the mid 1980's Gorbachev was moving the USSR toward political openness (glasnost)and economic restructuring (perestroika). Basically, the Soviet government was "giving in" to Democratic principles, whereas the Iranian government is attempting to prevent it or take it away.

CB;"This is why Obama my be a "historic" president, but he'll never be a "great" president like Reagan..

The classification of "greatness" can be given to just about any leader you choose (depending on what ideals exemplifies your political positions). However, you might have a point with the "historic" reference.

On the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, a crowd of Iranian students, and many supporters, marched in a show of solidarity with their brethren in Iran. A familiar chant of "Yes We Can" was heard from the crowd as they paraded through the campus.

Who ever thought that the election of an "AMERICAN" president would inspire democracy and freedom for the people of...."IRAN"???

Anthony, perhaps one's "ideals that exemplify one's political position" neglect to see Reagan's "rhetoric" as the ultimate push and nail in the coffin of the Soviet Union. With raised tension from a fearless President, it helped topple that system. At least that's how I see it based on my political position.

And that very " YES WE CAN " that was heard in Michigan, was the very chant and campaign Ahmadinejad ran with for his re election bid. Who would have thought that an American President's slogan, would be used as the slogan and base for the current regime in "IRAN"???

You're right...it is your political position, thus, in your opinion and beliefs Reagan can be whatever your want...

My opinion is quite contrary to your beliefs. In my opinion, the Soviet system toppled itself. You can claim Reagan did it all you want! Yet, it doesn't make it so.
Do this...through history, name a government that was toppled by "rhetoric" aimed at them from a foreign government source.

Hell if "rhetoric" were so effective in toppling foreign regimes, Cuba would be the 51st state!

Robb;"And that very " YES WE CAN " that was heard in Michigan, was the very chant and campaign Ahmadinejad ran with for his re election bid.".

Drinking from the well of "right-wing" radio, Robb? That's why I'm so enamored by conservative and right-wing propaganda- it's so effective you don't even think to check the fact's for yourself!

Check this out...

Last year (June 2008) conservative talker Monica Crowley sat in on the Laura Ingram Show. Crowley falsely claimed that Barak Obama had stolen the phrase "Yes We Can" from none other than....Ahmadinejad!!.

Read the linked story (and do so research ON YOUR OWN) and you will find that the FACTS are;

1. Ahmadinejad used a phrase that when translated from Farsi means, "It's possible (or doable) and we can do it."
2. Ahmadinejad used the phrase not only in a "re-election" bid, in fact, he used it in 2005 Iranian Presidential Election, before President Obama used it in his presidential campaign.
3. In Fact the "Yes We Can" slogan dates back to the 2004 Democratic National Convention where Obama was the keynote speaker.

Who would have "known" always trumps who would have "thought"...

What did Reagan do ? Nothing but tell Gorbschev you know we are all brothers. If you don't tear down this wall we will cut off the wheat we are sending to feed your people.
