Chicago PD Officer under fire for over firing on a 17 year old suspect carrying a knife
First off I want to wish everybody a very Happy Thanksgiving. I saw today at the White House as the human turkey pardoned two other turkeys. Anyways, here we go again thanks to the national media like clockwork. The nation is yet again being dragged into another black suspect/white cop shooting saga. A Chicago Police Officer Jason Dyke is being charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Laquan McDonald. This is the unedited video of the events leading up to the encounter between Officer Van Dyke and Laquan McDonald. Warning for graphic content.
I've stated many times that I am a staunch supporter of body cameras and video documentation in general, because it's hard to say that video is here say evidence and it helps to keep both sides honest. I've also said that people must take a wait and see stance regarding evidence in a particular case and see where the evidence leads in regards to an officer shooting a suspect regardless of race. Many people like myself care simply that the facts get out so that true justice is served. Others only care to see every possible situation or incident through the narrow lenses of race and to seek favorable outcomes due to it. I've seen the video in question, and I came away with more questions then answers in this case. The attorney for Officer Dyke said that his client will be found innocent when all the facts are presented. I don't share his confidence for several reasons. From what I've read, Officer Van Dyke was the last officer to arrive on the scene as the other officers were confronting Laquan McDonald. I find it hard for Mr Van Dyke to claim he feared for his life, when Laquan was seen moving away from him, when he opened fired on him 17 times. The amount of times officer Van Dyke shot Laquan McDonald was overkill (pardon the pun) but what was most damming is that he allegedly shot Laquan in the back and also while Laquan was on the ground. I'm not a gun expert, but I am assuming that a semi automatic service revolver will fire one bullet per squeezing of the trigger. I simulated pulling a trigger 17 times, the amount of shots doesn't compute as justified to take down one suspect. Also, was a taser used to try and subdue Laquan and if not why not? The Chicago Police Department is under scrutiny for waiting over a year to release it's findings of it's investigation. This delay has only helped to anger certain people and to give ammo to black activists who already don't have a favorable opinion of law enforcement. For now Chicago hasn't turned into Baltimore, for now.

Whenever theres a video tape of police shooting the usual characters always a rush to judgement and vilify police. Video doesn't always show all angles. The responding officers were told that a perp was armed with a butchers knife had been slashing car tires, threatened other citizens and was high on PCP! What the video does show is a crazed man obvious on drugs wielding a butcher knife not following police orders. McDonald was repeatedly told to stop and drop his weapon. But as the video shows McDonald ignored their orders and kept walking. He was walking in the direction of officers who told him to stop. When a armed person does not follow orders to stop an officer has the right to protect himself and a duty to protect the public. McDonald was over 6ft tall and about 200lbs. A man that big who is high on drugs could have easily fatally wounded one or more officers with that knife. Officer Van Dyke did what was necessary to neutralize the perp.
Isn't it our favorite Mayor, "You never let a crisis go to waste",(There's a sentiment for the holidays)who is surely running this show from start to finish? Heard he's got some powerful friends. So why not picket him?
Things that stand out. The teen was obviously doing something wrong and appeared to be trying to flee vs listening to law enforcement. Most people know better. The second part that stands out is although someone yielding a knife is dangerous especially when disobeying law enforcement it's not necessary to open fire before and actual attack is made showing a deadly force intent. With that many law enforcement officers in the area it seems other options may have been better.
This is a situation where two wrongs don't make a right. The officer will no doubt face some form of discipline from the police force itself... likely fired. This police officer will likely also see legal prosecution... lets hope it's a trial not tainted by pressure politically. Again two wrongs took place. The first did not justify the second, however, adrenaline flows in situations like this. That's why at bare minimum the officer will lose his job, because we want law enforcement that acts sanely under pressure.
Nothing looks racially motivated although both whites and blacks bring a lot of racial prejudice to the table in many instances. In this case maybe the black teen was acting up taunting a perceived white institution and maybe the white police officer saw another perceived black punk threat to civilized people.
Sometimes bad things happen and in a nation this big it will happen daily. What the nation should not want is a whole police force so intimidated they stop protecting the nation against those who use race as a shield for bad behavior. The nation also wants police who use better judgement.
It's a scary world those who want to make this about the poor black teen who chose to flaunt a knife in public and waste the tax dollar of our police force are sick and so are those who think in this case deadly force was authorized. No matter the outcome legally this was not something worthy of causing riots. I can see it causing riots if the officer kept his job after this, however, I'm sure he won't. After that, unless your on the jury distrust the media because they stir the pot.

From what I've heard, Rahum was facing a tough re election campaign, and he knew if this video would have came out during it, he would have lost big time. Now that he's safely re elected for 4 more years, he feels that now this can be dealt with and that the people's memory will fade before the next election. There needs to be an investigation into why the investigation took so long. The coverup I believe begins at the Mayor's mansion and then extends down to the Chicago PD. Notice that Rahm only threw his Police Commis under the bus AFTER the people started protesting.

It doesn't matter that Laquan didn't listen to Officer Van Dkye. The only legitimate explanation for Officer Van Dyke to have claimed his life was threatened was if and only if Laquan was moving "towards him with the knife". Unless there is something missing in the video, that wasn't the case at all. He was moving way from him.

If the facts are as they are in the video, Officer Van Dyke will go to prison for his actions. I agree, there shouldn't be no political agenda involved in the eventual trial, but Chicago is home of Jesse Jackson and Screwy Lewy Farrakhan, so good luck in that happening because to top it off Mayor Rahm Emanuel is all about politics and saving his political ass, so who knows what other strings he will pull behind the scene to save his political ass.

And why would you "think" that a white cop could bring prejudice to the table? A young black man with a knife who "seems" like he could be a threat? A young black man holding a knife while walking away from you? How could there be any prejudice if a white cop shoots him 16 times, and continued to shoot while he's laying on the ground. The only way I can see Laquan making out of this alive, is if he were an old white guy taunting police with a loaded assault rifle....
This police shooting is just another incidence of a "video telling the truth." Had the reporters who dug into the shooting not shown the Chicago PD had lied about the shooting, Laquan McDonald would have been another Michael Brown.
Many black communities have suffered under this type of police abuse for decades. Of course we all know that crime is a major problem in black communities. However, that's no excuse for abuse by police and entire police departments. For years in Detroit corruption and citizen abuse was pervasive in the police department. In fact it was the police "code of silence" among crooked cops that spawned the "no snitch" rule among the average citizens in the Detroit.
However, relationships between the police and the community has gotten better in Detroit, mostly due to better community outreach and more blacks in the higher ranks.

What pushes this even more, to help overcome fixated liberal democrat mental illness, is that they are both black and female. Their swagger and confidence can break through political ice, and get more attention, and help Trump for the next 11 months.

There is a disturbance in the force to say the least allen. Me and you are actually on the same page for once. If the evidence proves that suspect was indeed walking "away" form the Officer Van Dyke, there is no logically justification to validate him shooting Laquan at all. The definition of the word "threat" is
"a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done"
If Laquan McDonald was indeed walking away from the officers including Officer Van Dyke, then there was no intention by Laquan to inflict injury on him or the other officers. Now if he walked or even charged towards the officers with the knife in hand, that would be a completely different story and thus warrant a validation of force, because Laquan then would have been deemed a threat.

The local radio talk show host here in Baltimore mentioned the story. This is a text book example on why when liberals cry racism, most people just ignored them. Either it's perceived racism by them or like in this case, they "make it up". Kayla McKelvey should be expelled from Kean University for putting potentially putting people's lives in danger. This is becoming a growing trend of blacks staging incidents of racism, but thankfully they are being exposed like Kayla McKelvey was. Progressives truly believe that this country is dripping with racism. If that's the case, why do they have to stage racism instead of naturally presenting it?

Diamond and Silk are funny as hell. I don't know if they can truly break down any barriers politically and such in regards to appealing to non Republican or even non Trump supporters, however it was still nice to see them at the rally. I would like to see Diamond and Silk debate some black vocal Hillary supporters. That would be must see TV!!

Yeah, they are funny as hell, there's no doubt about that. Although you might "not know if they can truly break down any political barriers", I'm SURE that they wont! By request (from Trump) they did their "little routine" and entertained the crowd. But that's about all they are in the Trump campaign- ENTERTAINMENT!
Sorry to bust your bubble Indigo, but your perceived "swagger and confidence" of Diamond and Silk is actually viewed as stereotypical "sassy and desperate." Those who support Donald Trump (the vast majority) could care less about Diamond and Silk, let alone their support of his candidacy. Moreover, believing that Diamond and Silk could sway the any percentage of the Democrat Black vote to Donald Trump, is insane as Trump's belief that he could win a majority of the American Hispanic vote.
Many Republican voters are so upset with the so-called "establishment" that they're (possibly unknowingly) willing to destroy the entire Republican party just to make a political point. Add in the delusion of an "America hating White hating Black Muslim hell bent on destroying America" in the White House, and you get Donald Trump as the GOP front-runner and possible GOP presidential nominee. When the two are combined the Trump supporters become gripped in a psychosis which leads them to believe that Donald Trump could not only be the president, but they believe that he actually could win. Anyone that believes that Donald Trump could win the presidency is a complete idiot and a damn fool.

I have a challenge for all of you:
Volunteer for a Grand Jury Tour that offers a "Police Shooting Simulator" demonstration. After going through about 15 scenarios, you'd be surprised how many times a regular "civilian" pulls the trigger when faced with a stressful situation. It is very informative, empathetic and enlightening.
